Roadogz.com
Newsletter July 2003
Hello
fellow Dogz, and a sincere apology for the lengthy delay without
any news. In truth, there hasn’t been anything of really
major significance going on at Roadogz, so why bug you when
you have enough excitement in your life, right?
Anyway,
here's what we got:
Over the last year we have moved to San Francisco. Our new address
is:
3135 Pacific Ave #3
San Francisco, CA 94115
On
the writing side:
A wonderful writer has been adding material to Roadogz. His
name is Rich Abrams, and he’s the Assistant Theater Operations
Manager at Yale University Drama School in New Haven. The last
couple of articles, he looked at the catering and security businesses,
2 fields we often forget to look at in our busy schedules, especially
on a show day. He looks at the industry in a very humorous way.
Check him out in the articles
section on Roadogz.
Martin (Torchy) Brennan will be giving us tour updates from
his travels with Iron Maiden. Martin has been their LD for a
number of years now. He's toured South America, Eastern Europe
and all the standard countries we hit on a regular basis. Check
out Rich and Martin on Roadogz.
Also, our Aussie friend Willy T went on hiatus for a while,
but he's back with another great article.
We love to see people who love to write. Virtually anything
you want to write about can be added to Roadogz.com, and we'll
add you to our bios. We’ve also added a link to the bios
on the home page that works on a random basis. Writers are getting
more exposure this way. We'll even add your banner to Roadogz.Send
us your stuff at http://www.roadogz.com/stories/addstory.htm
Over
the last year we've gotten to know some of the gang over at
PLSN (Production Lighting and Staging News). Publisher of
PLSN, Terry Lowe, recently started another magazine. It's called
FOH (Front of House), and here's what he had to say about this
new publication:
FRONT OF HOUSE MAGAZINE,
the news magazine for live sound, wants you to have a FREE Subscription!
If you are not currently receiving FOH you are missing out on
the most up-to-date journal on theatrical sound. Every month
you will learn of the latest gear, theatrical installations
and a look at a Broadway sound designer every month. Plus every
year you will also receive FREE of CHARGE our Event Production
Directory! The complete resource guide to audio, lighting and
staging companies throughout the US. Take a few minutes right
now to go to our web site and start your free subscription!
It will be the best 5 minutes you will invest in all day!
For all you upgrade and airline mileage
addicts, we’ve added a couple of good links to the Airlines
section on Roadogz. Seatguru.com
highlights the good and bad seats on the main carriers in the
US, and ‘flyertalk’
is a huge message board where you can post your questions about
any airline. Find common answers on tickets, miles, upgrades etc.
When we tried, we got an answer in about 30 minutes.
Well that's all for this time.
We are all in a very unique business. Touring or sales, conventions
to tour buses; we all look out for each other.
